Should I just DA or get DFD?
by Julia Orwell inmy never-a-jw dad told me today that mongrel jws who turn on me were never truly my friends and i'm better off without them, so why worry if i get disfellowshiped?.
i fear being disfellowshiped because my name will be dragged through the mud.
i also think it might be a good idea to da or get dfd because then the link is broken and the fade is over.

I had been inactive in field service for several years, but regularly attended meetings. In my own mind, I was a true believer with performance issues. From the outside I probably looked like a fader though. After that last disasterous "shepherding call", I never set foot in a kingdom hall again and I stopped answering the phone if anyone from the hall called. Just Ron engaged the local elders in a few conversations, and I kind of think that played into the "mentally diseased apostate" label. For myself, I'd rather just walk away and refuse to engage. It seems to me that I'm going to get trashed no matter what I do, and it seems to bother them more being unable to pin me down and make me answer questions.

I don't even know when the DC in my area is being held. It used to be a Roberts Stadium in Evansville, IN and I'd see it on the billboard when I'd drive by, but they are using the new convention center downtown and I never have any reason to drive past that one.
Are you hoping to meet up with someone from JWN, or just get the scoop on what will be said in the talks?

Is There A Part Of You Still Left In The Organization?
by ÁrbolesdeArabia inevery soldier entering the war zone leaves behind a little piece of themself.
the gulf war is estimated to cost the v.a.
billions of dollars in disability because of the affects the war has had on these young and middle age soldiers.

for me, I'd say that I've pretty much erased all the dubbery from my thinking and my attitudes, but since I still see the people on a regular basis around town I can't completely forget. I wasn't born in, and the doctrine never really took root deeply because I was too busy chasing after my little kids to pay attention

one of the local dubs made a pass through our annual boy scout yard sale saturday. i looked right at him and had no idea who he was - I knew he looked familiar, but I thought he was a cousin of the scout master instead of someone I spent a decade sitting behind at the kingdom hall. the kicker is that he lives less than 2 blocks down the street from me.

Since you've left, are you still good friends with your bestest JW buddies?
by Julia Orwell inis it possible that someone has a jw friend who's very active in the congregation, knows you don't believe it anymore, and is still your friend?
i'm at the point where word is getting out that i'm not going to meetings anymore, and friends ask me if they'll be seeing me at the ca and i tell them i'm not going.
they want to know why, and what they can do to encourage me.

of all the active dubs I thought were my friends, none have continued our relationship since i stopped attending meetings. there are a few that will speak to me if we happen to see each other at the store, but that's it. some even turn and walk away rather than say hello. One inactive couple who stopped attending meetings years ago have responded to our attempts to reconnect, but I don't know how that will end up once they realize just how out we are.

I remember the anxiety that not getting paid produces. Years ago, Just Ron worked for an outfit and his paychecks started bouncing. Once, it was a check for less than $10 - can you imagine a business not having a lousy $10 in the account? Worse, he cashed it at the university where he was studying and ended up on their bad check list. He couldn't pay any of his student fees by check after that - had to get a money order or pay cash.
I do hope you find a good job that values you and treats you right.
